Things that make us smile | Low-key summer activities!

August 05, 2022

Summer Solstice was last week and the days are already getting shorter … All I can think of is that Steve Miller Band song, “Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’ into the future.”  “Seriously, where has time gone and how can summer be almost over?!  So in my effort to slow things down and hold onto summer just a bit longer, I vow to dedicate more days to enjoy the simple joys of summer.  Here are some low-key things I look forward to filling my days with:

Making homemade lemonade.  Nothing better than enjoying an ice cold glass of homemade lemonade on a hot day.  Super simple to make - just need lemons (8 - 10 lemons), sugar (2/4 - 1 cup), and water (1 1/2 quarts of cold water).

Head out and go for a hike.  Minimal planning and nothing too strenuous. Just find a local trail for a 1 - 2 hour walk / hike.

Chill and enjoy some music outdoors at a local park. There are so many parks that run Music in the Park series, so I'm just going to grab a picnic blanket and head to a local park and listen to some music.

Spend days at the beach.   Enjoy a day at the beach building sandcastles, search for seashells, or just relaxing on the sand listening to the sound of the crashing waves.

Try a new dessert place.  Need I say more?

Lazy days indoors without any guilt.  There are just some days where you just need to relax and stay home.  You can binge a show, watch a movie, read a book, sleep in ... The only requirement is to make sure to not do anything productive!

What are some of your low-key summer activities?
