How is it possible that it’s almost time for kids to head back to school? Wasn’t it just yesterday we were thinking about how to fill our summer days? Now, the first day of school is just 4 weeks away!! Yikes.
It’s around this time I start thinking about Back to School shopping. This year, I’m going to do a capsule wardrobe for the girls. I had done that for myself last year and it worked out great so I’m looking forward to trying it with the girls.
Definition: A capsule wardrobe is a small collection of versatile clothing that you totally LOVE to wear. [credit: Un-Fancy]
This capsule wardrobe really goes hand in hand with our summer theme of paring down and eliminating clutter in our home.
We started by going through the girls closets and eliminated anything that didn’t fit, were ripped / stained beyond repair and things that they just didn’t like and would never wear. Once we cleaned out their closets, it was a matter of figuring out where the gaps were (if any) and then head out shopping for the missing pieces.
There really is no magic number for building a capsule wardrobe other than sticking to a similar color theme to make it easy to mix and match and be able to pull together a variety of outfits. I used two weeks worth of clothes as my guideline. Below is a snapshot of the items to build the girls capsule wardrobe (Also pictured below):
