National Grilled Cheese Day

Now that you know WHAT we like to make our grilled cheeses with, we have a few tips on HOW to make it!

  1. Quality ingredients. Whether you like more of a gourmet sandwich or the classic American cheese melt, ingredients matter! Try choosing a good, stiff bread (nothing over processed or mushy) and a high quality, meltable cheese. This will add a signature touch to your grilled cheese no matter which toppings you choose!
  2. The butter. If you enjoy putting butter on the outside of your grilled cheese bread to achieve the crispy, golden crunch, try mixing it with this secret ingredient: mayonnaise. That’s right! Mayonnaise will raise the smoking temperature so you can cook your sandwich longer to achieve the gooey-ooey inside that all signature grilled cheeses have.
  3. Packing. We've all had that lunch where our apple has squished our sandwich till it's flat and almost inedible. To avoid any damage to your grilled cheese while in transit, slice it up and pack in a DINE insulated food jar! If you have any sides you want to enjoy with it, try out a THIS + THAT stackable insulated food jar, which lets you pack two meals in one.
  4. Time. While grilled cheese is a great treat to make when you’re short on time or groceries, taking your time while cooking is key to a great grilled cheese. Try cooking on low heat so that the insides have plenty of time to melt evenly inside your choice of bread.
  5. While some people love a grilled cheese alone for their meal, you can also pair it with a variety of sides to spice things up! Tomato soup is a classic, while guacamole is a surprising duo that is great for those who enjoy avocado in their sandwiches, but don’t like the idea of it being warmed up.
