Here at ZoLi, we love all things green and all things reusable! That's why we're excited for September to come so we can plant some new veggies and recycle a bit while doing it. We've compiled a list of the best veggies to plant now along with instructions on how to reuse your old ZoLi boxes as planters.

Some of the best veggies to grow in September are:
  • Spinach
  • Radishes
  • Carrots
  • Turnips
  • Arugula
  • Peas
  • Broccoli transplants
  • Kale
We chose to use radishes and spinach for our next craft - a DIY recycled planter box! For this craft, you will need the following materials:
    • Packing tape or duct-tape
    • A used ZoLi box or any product box with a window cut out of the front
    • Soil (we used a soil with moisture control so it is less likely to soak through the package
    • Seeds (we used Radish and Spinach seeds)
    • Spray bottle for upkeep!

    Supplies You'll Need to Start

    What to do:

    1. Start by covering the outside of your box with packing tape - make sure to cover any folds or creases where soil would be able to spill out of.

Tape all sides of your box

    2. Fill your sealed box with soil. We recommend leaving about 1 cm gap between the opening and where you stop filling.

    Fill your box with dirt

    3. Spray the dirt so that it is damp and press the seeds into the dirt using your pinky. Push the seed about 1 inch down and cover with soil.

    Insert seeds and water

    4. Mist the top of the seeds again right away and continue to mist once daily until your veggies are well on their way!

Water Regularly Until your Seeds Grow!

And it's as simple as that! We hope you enjoy making your own DIY ZoLi planter box and the veggies that come after!
