There are plenty of signs around telling me that the holidays are over and it’s time to jump into the new year. Typically that means going back to the office / school, starting a new fitness program, or just refreshing our daily routine. However, 2022 has yet again started a little differently than most! So instead of jumping right in, I find that I prefer to ease myself slowing into the new year.
In that vein, I find myself seeking simple comforts. Here are a few of the things that I’m enjoying and appreciating this week:
It’s taken me awhile but I finally jumped on the Ted Lasso bandwagon. This show is as good as everyone says it is - a “feel good” show that is a perfect blend of humor and heart. I’m trying to pace myself and not binge all the episodes all at once.
There have been many gadgets that have passed through my kitchen promising to make meal prep / cooking easier. While most of them have been purged when we did our kitchen remodel, this little unassuming thing that I picked up years ago in Taiwan has stayed. And yes, it really does make straining rice, cooked beans or pasta just a tad easier.
Never underestimate the value of having the “right” pen on hand for jotting down notes, filling out forms or writing letters / cards. How many times have you reached for a pen only to find that the ink doesn’t flow or has dried out? I buy these in bulk to have on hand at all times.
