time change benefits

SPRING FORWARD:

Okay... hear me out. I know that losing an hour of sleep on your weekend that you worked so hard to get to doesn't sound ideal. But I think that the "spring forward" time change is the best time to get back on those goals! This absolutely outweighs temporary grogginess in my opinion 😉

I know that I can't be the only one who made New Year's Resolutions this January that have been, let's just say, less than ✨perfect✨  so far. With this extra hour of afternoon sunlight, I think it's the perfect push to get back on track.

Here are some of the resolutions we noticed this year that are ripe for a bit of extra sunshine!

  • Getting outside more - This one is a given! For those of us who wanted to get out more this year? We officially have no excuse now. The extra time after work to get outside is monumental!
  • Working out - While this one will still take some self-motivation to accomplish, the extra hour might make it a little more fun. Workouts are opened up to many more options when you can get outside before dark. Rather than being forced to drive to the gym after business hours, you can now take a jog outside, run some park stairs...
  • Eating healthy - While this benefit may not be directly connected to the time change, this time of year is perfect for whole foods. So many delicious produce items are in season starting in March! Some of my favorites of the season are artichokes, broccolini, spinach, avocado, brussels sprouts, and citrus! Time to break out the juicer.
  • Cooking more at home - See "eating healthy" above 😎  In all seriousness, the amount of delicious produce to choose from this time of year creates endless recipe options! Try something new and if you don't like it, you can always move onto the next veggie.
  • Reading more - Reading is all about time. If you are one to wake up early naturally, you may find yourself rising in the dark this time of year. Rather than snoozing that alarm and going back to bed - hop up and grab that book or place it on your bedside table with a reading light and get to flipping those pages!

Personally, I was hoping to jump on the "reading more" resolution this year but have found it hard to remember after work hours! I will have to take advantage of the time change and leave that book next to my alarm. For now, I have finished one book and it was a doozy...

The Golden Couple Book

THE GOLDEN COUPLE:

I'm just going to say it... some books are boring. I find it extremely hard to focus on books if they are considered "slow burn." I know that many readers love this type of reading and I completely appreciate that! But personally, I gravitate toward the thriller book genre which tends to keep you on your toes for a majority of the read.

The latest book I finished was The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. And I LOVED👏🏼IT👏🏼SO👏🏼MUCH. I dont want to give too much away, so I will just leave the description that Book of the Month gave to draw me in:

"QUICK TAKE: The twisty tale of a therapist with unconventional methods trying to unlock the mystery of a “perfect” marriage."

I know... not much context. But believe me, it's great!

DELIVERY!

Another one of my New Year's Resolutions was to be generally healthier. (More specifically to be able to do a pull-up because I am terrified of being pushed off a cliff and not being able to pull myself back up, but that's for another blog post...)

While I've been able to follow this for the most part, I've also been LOVING the food delivery services available to help out with my sweet tooth! This year for my birthday, Juli sent ice cream from Ample Hills Creamery... What a unique and DELICIOUS present!

To say I was excited would be an understatement, and when I opened the package and read the flavors, I clearly needed to be sedated. My favorite out of the 4 was called "Breakfast Trash." It is Cap’n Crunch, Frosted Flakes and Corn Pops-infused ice cream with Fruity Pebbles and Froot Loops... Basically all of my favorite things in frozen form.

I think this is probably obvious but I had one pint a night until they were gone and have no regrets. #balance 🧘🏽‍♀️
