4th of July '22 - Packing Lists for Your Long Weekend

Fourth of July is on a Monday this year and we all know what that means... LONG WEEKEND! And with a long weekend comes travel, planning, and packing, ESPECIALLY if you have little ones with you.

Depending on how you are celebrating this year, the list can seem hard to tackle (not wanting to over-pack, but also wanting to make sure that you have everything you'll need)  So we decided to make the "planning" phase easier and compile a few packing lists for popular fourth of July activities! 

  1. FOR THE LAKE DAY
  2. FOR THE ROAD TRIP
  3. FOR THE AMUSEMENT PARK
  4. FOR THE IN-FLIGHT CARRY ON
  5. FOR THE POOL DAY

 

FOR THE LAKE DAY:

  1. Water
  2. Towels
  3. Swimsuits & rash guards
  4. Dry change of clothes
  5. Sunscreen
  6. Sunglasses and Hats
  7. Life jackets - make sure to pack appropriate floaties for swimming vs. boating
  8. Sand toys
  9. Snacks & food
  10. Cooking utensils if needed (plates, serving spoons, knife, cutting board, foil, spatula)
  11. Wipes
  12. Trash bags
  13. First aid kit
  14. Bug spray
  15. Camera
  16. Swim diapers (for babies & toddlers)
  17. Jackets or blankets if you're planning on staying late!

FOR THE ROAD TRIP:

  1. DISTRACTIONS - toys, music, and lots of them. 
  2. Snacks - here is a list of road-trip friendly finger foods we love
  3. Car sickness remedies (peppermint, ginger, etc.)
  4. Sunscreen
  5. Sunglasses and Hats
  6. First Aid Kit
  7. Roadside equipment (jumper cables, flashlight, etc.)
  8. Water
  9. Car-friendly chargers for all devices
  10. Wipes
  11. Sunshades for windows
  12. Travel pillow and blanket
  13. Headphones
  14. Planned stops to take breaks and stretch

FOR THE AMUSEMENT PARK:

  1. Sunscreen
  2. Sunglasses and Hats
  3. Small snacks (if allowed - check your amusement park's rule book!)
  4. Pain reliever (aspirin, etc.)
  5. Hand sanitizer
  6. Refillable water bottle
  7. Camera
  8. Comfy shoes
  9. External battery cell phones
  10. Pre-download any park apps
  11. Jacket
  12. Rain poncho (if the weather seems iffy!)

FOR THE FLIGHT CARRY-ON:

  1. DISTRACTIONS - books, teethers, pre-downloaded movies...
  2. Gum to pop your ears
  3. Surface wipes
  4. Baby wipes
  5. Snacks - here is a list of friendly finger foods we love
  6. Chargers for your devices
  7. Travel pillow
  8. Headphones
  9. Pre-measure all luggage for overhead and under seat compliance
  10. Small hand towel (for accidental spills that just can't be cleaned with airplane napkins)

FOR THE POOL DAY:

  1. Goggles
  2. Water
  3. Towels
  4. Swimsuits & rash guards
  5. Dry change of clothes
  6. Sunscreen (set a timer to remind you to reapply!)
  7. Sunglasses and Hats
  8. Floaties and pool toys
  9. Snacks
  10. Umbrella
  11. Clip-on fan
