A tour of local ice cream spots in the Bay Area would not be complete without a stop at Mitchell's Ice Cream. Mitchell's has been around since 1953 in the Mission District. It was started by two brothers with the goal of making the very best ice cream in San Francisco. To this day, they still make and serve the creamiest ice cream from the same corner location as when they first opened.
They have over 40 flavors so it was hard to decide. We finally chose Thin Mint, Dulce de Leche and Vanilla but with so many flavors to try, I know we will be back. The flavors I want to try next time - Halo Halo, Espresso Toffee Crunch, Lychee, Ube, and the list goes on ....
Overall, the girls gave Mitchell's a 3.5 out of 5. They both thought the ice cream was delicious - rich and creamy and would definitely go back but I think they are ready to try the next one on tour.
