Thanksgiving activities for kids

November 16, 2018

We've compiled some fun activities from around the web to keep the kiddos busy before, during, and after the feast

Fun & Games

turkey bowling  Thanksgiving Word Scramble  Thanksgiving Bingo

• Turkey Bowling anyone?
• Who doesn't love word scrambles?  Here is a free, printable Thanksgiving scramble from Landeelu.
• Here's a fun, printable for Turkey Bingo.

Fun ways to get kids involved in creating a festive decor for their table:

Napkin Rings  turkey name settings  turkey DIY placemat
• Beaded napkin rings from Buggy and Buddy.
• DIY turkey place settings from Oh Joy.
• Incorporate a little of the outdoors with this turkey placemat from Bombshell Bling.

Fun ways for kids and adults to stop and take a moment to think about all the things that we should be grateful for:

                     thankful jar
    • Make a Thankful Jar and have each family member write something they are grateful for this year.  Then read the notes either at the beginning or the end of your Thanksgiving feast.
    • Here's a great idea from Jenny Howell (Today Parenting Team Contributor) that I would like to try - Sidewalk Chalk Thanks.  Spend the week leading up or the day of filling up your driveway with thankful drawings or words.  Only for those without snow in the driveway yet : )
    • Gratitude Collage (Gratitude Tree) - different variations exist but basically it can be a collage or a tree and people can write, draw or even cut out pictures from magazines or use photos ... possibilities are endless.

Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!
